Your genuine nature, cool idle banter, mild disagreements and thoughtful analysis are funny, confidence building, and just all around great.

Your very quick comment on the destroyed packing cube(zipper failure), happened on three different cubes I had. Probably will stick to stuff bags now.
I’ve purchased high end cortex rain gear and cooked in them while I’ve seen friends wear generic dollar store rain gear manage very well! I do like a foot pull over rain booties which kept feet warm on rainy rides.Have brought a helmet rain cover, too hot most times.I do recommend a mosquito head cover that even fit over helmet while riding, nothing more annoying than deer flies biting you even while riding!

My trangia cookset (40 years old now) is still going strong and I've converted it to take the Trangia gas burner too. The gas burner has a pre-heater so that in very cold conditions it doesn't flare. Biolite stove is good but heavy, it will charge your electrical items - just check the output of the stove before buying. As for a headlight - LED LENSER which have been really good for me. Merino wool underwear OH YES - soft, comfortable, warm and naturally anti-microbial (from the advertising blurb). Still loving the vids when I get to watch them. Keep well, stay safe and keep on cycling guys.

Planning my first bike tour for October, a solo trip down the CA portion of PCH. Watched all your videos of that portion, thank you so much for all the intel! Thank you for the packing cube as a pillow idea. I'm allergic to wool so unfortunately I have to stick w the stinkier fabrics, bummer! Oh, thank you for the myth buster video as well. I was nervous about not being a bike mechanic!

I have a Snowpeak 450 double walled titanium mug that I take everywhere with me! Work, hiking, camping, bike packing, etc. I just bought a new Surly Disc Trucker to do all my daily local transportation on as well as some touring at age 60. Loved your breakdown of your gear. Very helpful! But I will find a way to take my Snowpeak mug and titanium chopsticks!

Great review, thanks...
I use a Dutch bike lock and find it good for quick shop visits to restock food/water.
Also, a thin wire locking system for panniers and tent; most of my touring is European and includes campsite overbites.

I like the snack pouches, good call mam. I'm doing a 2 1/2 day trip to Ottawa this week, thanks for the gear advice and the inspiration.

The one bikepacking trip I've made, I took a twig burning pocket stove to save fuel, always twigs laying around and good ones heat up and focus heat real nice

I use 2 small “luggage “ cable locks on bike and panniers for quick stops. Yes people will steal panniers off bikes! A good combination lock with heavy coiled cable (3 metres length), locked bikes even at campsites to a tree!

fyi you can recycle butane/propane cans in some places, but you have to poke an extra hole in it to be sure its actually empty (when you use it theres still a few drops left). the container itself is just metal
