Queens Residents Want Open Streets To Remain Permanent

There is a battle over more than a mile of open streets stretching through Queens. Residents who love having the car-free open space demand the city make it permanent; CBS2's Dave Carlin reports.

All this creates is traffics there’s literally four parks close by 2 on Northern blvd, 1 junction blvd, 1 on the same ave .

Now if the residence want certain streets closed in their neighborhoods okay that will be fine by me but here's my idea of saving millions of dollars every year on Street repairs now if those streets are being closed off to automobile traffic for the residents to enjoy open streets to do their activities on then those streets shall not receive appropriate funding to repair them whatsoever and if the residence of those streets want there streets to be repaired let all the residents that live along those streets that are closed off for traffic let those residents pay for it themselves do not ask the motorists or the taxpayers to foot the bill whatsoever.

Man I remember living on those tight streets in Rego Park. Cars/people everywhere. Now I'm out in SoCal and there is nothing but open space! The people out there do need the space, but that's at a steep steep cost of creating traffic hell! I feel for both sides...
