There is debate whether The Backfire Effect is really a thing or not, but I think it's best to play it safe and avoid the possibility by not using communication methods that may cause it it. The publics mind won't be changed by throwing facts at them or by debating science deniers. Science communicators should use methods such as Socratic Questions, Deep Canvassing, and Attitude Inoculation. There is a lot of money and power trying to convince the public that Science is wrong, and only by using more effective methods than those we used in the past will be enough to counter that.
