When I was a kid I found a baby turtle in my local pond. Brought him home kept him for a couple years. One day my mom caught me feeding him hot dogs frozen hot dogs. He was taking chunks out of them. That was it I had to let him go. I still wonder if he's alive considering he has no predators in that pond other than people. Got to be massive by now if he is.

‘You need to hold onto the plastron’ proceeds to grab the back of the carapace. The plastron is essentially a turtles belly, the carapace is it’s back.

For anyone thinking of doing this snapping turtles, even the small ones, can bite off your fingers or toes and or rip your skin open very easily. These aren't animals I recommend you go out and mess with for fun if you don't know what to do. They're a lot faster than you think. If you want to play with turtles find box turtles, but ALWAY BE GENTLE AND NICE TO THEM, they do have feeling in their shell and they can feel pain when their shell is injured.

I had a pet turtle when I was little his name was Franklin. he's was the sweetest turtle ever everyone loved him but he got to big and we had to give him to someone else. I miss him and everyone else does to. He loved lettuce and running across the floor really fast lol❤🐢

That’s is why you don’t pull or grab anything by it’s tail it can dislocate the tail from the spine

I found a HUGE OLD snapping turtle near my home a couple of years ago- I wish I would have gotten pictures or a video I was just so excited 😂 he had tons of crud growing on his shell from his clear old age and I was trying to feed him but he was absolutely not interested so I showed him the way to the water and I haven’t seen him since. I live in on a lake and we get A LOT of turtles- sometimes if I’m home on rainy days I will drive around finding turtles who need to get to the other side of the road 😂

My dad when he was a kid, he brought home an adult alligator snapper he found, you can imagine my grandma’s surprise when she goes to take a shower and there’s a turtle hissing at her
