Honestly this is the closest mainline figure you could just interchange with the masterpiece version. It’s that good .

Fun fact, the way he transforms is also the same way his original toy transformed too, though obviously less complex and show accurate.

I feel like the G1 Grimlock and Optimus toys really sold the concept of Transformers. They look so great and their transformations are so intuitive that there's not a lot of room for improvement beyond adding articulation. You can't say that for most G1 toys.
