BMW CE 04 Review - £11,700 electric scooter ridden!

Using technology from its electric car division, #BMW invited us to ride its new #electric #scooter - the CE 04 at the press launch in Barcelona.

Is this the future of commuting? If so you'll need a hefty wallet because it's £11,700 in standard form. Add a few goodies and that'll soon be over £12k.

We packed young Mr Adam Child off to Spain with some optimistic pills stashed in his luggage.

design wise looks great but I think i'll be sticking with my honda forza. Less than half the price, infinite amounts of more storage space and no range anxiety plus a "Charge" only takes 5 minutes.

Wouldn't touch something that has software options as an extra. Next step is subscriptions for software to milk customers more and devalue the used market.

A 400cc Majesty will hit 100mph without the range anxiety. My 250cc Honda Helix hits 75mph with no range anxiety. 12k+ for a 500+ pound scooter with an 80 mile range doesn't cut it for me, And that electric motor whine would drive me up a wall.

Thanks for this very helpful and realistic video! Probably best CE04 video right now. I already could ride it myself in Autumn 2021 and was fully impressed. Do not really like the very wide front shield, which does not perfectly match the overall very cool and lean design. And it still is heavy, one can feel that. However, acceleration competely outweights the weight, even with a co rider on the back. Unbelievable. And apart from those two things, it is a phantastic ride, pure fun, super technology and very cool. I struggled for months, since I am not rich ;) then sold my bike and ordered one, with fast charger option (adds additional weight, one needs to keep in mind). Will use it as motorcycle replacement for commuting, riding our small backroads through the hills and low/mid range cruising or daily business.

Yes, it's expensive and heavy. But its predecessor (C-evolution) was even more.
And maxi-scooters aren't something new. The Honda Helix is 30 years ago. And a TMax, BMW C650, Burgman 650 or Honda X-ADV cost the same. This is the price-range of a 62Nm scooter and nothing to compare with ordinary small and cheap scooters.

Sounds like a jet taking off. I can’t get over the horrible noise.
The scooter looks good though. But some Chinese manufacturers offering pretty much the same for under half the price for a city electric. Can’t see these flying out the door. Unless your hipster and want to be “scene”

I don’t understand how a rear brake light 45 centimeters from the road surface does any good. Doesn’t seem safe when you want to be seen.

Love it, I ride a C400x maybe as you say when price drops a little but do BMW ever reduce prices 🤔

Looks and sounds cheap. Also do the people at BMW understand that you need storage space on a scooter that is supposed to be used in town? And please tell me who is complaining that a 100+ MPG scooter that is contributing to the pollution in the cities - so what is the point of this vehicle?

I think the new CE 04 is the worst sounding commuter ... I've ever ever heard. Bummer. I think I'll go with 2022 tmax.

it might be very good, no argue. but at that price, you can get a Tmax (or an equivalent "mega scooter"), do all your commute AND use it fro trips and touring.
it will make much more sense when the price drops at half in a few years
