Axiom Verge Review - Nitro Rad

A Metroid inspired indie game with some interesting twists of its own.

10 hours is the length of a decent AAA tps game's single player, if the game lasts that long it's pretty much worth the price, and if it actually has replayability then that's even better.  I think 20 dollars is a pretty good price for indie games that had a lot of effort put into them like that game and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.

Considering AAA affair as of late like The Order 1886 have struggled to meet 6 hours, to say nothing the struggle of delivering a satisfying experience worth sinking $60 at launch, i'd say 10+ hours for at $20 (22 on Steam) is more than a worthwhile purchase.  Point is that I don't think being indie should necessarily dictate a price point between $5-20 much like being AAA doesn't mean a game should be $60 and Axiom Verge.

This game looks so cool. I was a fan of the contra hard corps game and this one has a similar vibe to it. Great review, it makes me want to play it now.

Very nice review, just a little thing, This game isn't "8 bit" even in the slightest, it has much more of a 16 bit look and feel to it... It uses 16 colour sprites and lots of visual effects that can only be done in systems 16 bit or above, like Sprite and BG scalling and parallax scrolling...

$20 is a reasonable asking price for the labor he put into making the game. Artists have to pay their bills too.

Didn't really like this game, was expecting so much more. I know a single guy made it, but it's lackluster in story, fun and horror if it was really going there. There's no "Aha!" moment when everything in the story becomes interesting because you pieced it all together, it's just "oh I guess this is the story". Kinda neat but nowhere NEAR Metroid or Castlevania.

NitroRad You should check out Transistor, I feel like you would like it. It's $20 on steam. I don't know if it's too much but it's pretty worth it. The soundtrack is great and the story is interesting and the art is beautiful. Its defiantly one of my favorite games so far.
