My mistake was wanting to do my project in vanilla entirely, no outside code, wasted more than one year, learned some stuff but still If I had continued with React and the industry standards, now I'd be much better.

Personal story.
I used to believe js isn't good and java is better as there are more jobs related to that, started learning python too because was interested in ml too ended up doing
nothing and confused myself, started believing that I wasn't made for this.
Long story short Believe in your self and focus on one thing at a time and BELIEVE in yourself.
