"The Stars Look Back At You", the theory, part 2
In case most of you didn't see the theory I put on "Friendly Nightmares", I'll sum it up for you; Basically, Eyes likes to protect our lovable protagonists, and will punish anyone or anything that even tries to hurt them, even going as far as to control Pump when he can't come to help in time.
This is a part 2 of that theory, focusing specifically on episode 4.
The kids seem more aware in this episode than they have ever been. They take Happy seriously when he gets angry, they acknowledge danger and know how to deal with it, and they also know about possession and also that apparently Eyes can suck people's souls. I think I might know why they're more aware.
It's heavily implied that Happy's possessed by Dexter, who has a killing addiction that can drive him insane if he doesn't kill something within a certain amount of time.
Well, it's implied due to the cold and some decorations that this takes place in November. Ep 3 happened back in June, but Happy was bought and possessed(because his eyes turn the same as they are in ep 4 at the end of ep 3) during ep 3, meaning he's been trying to kill these kids for 5(or less) MONTHS NOW, but to no avail. And I think I know why.
I know it's shown in the episode that he can't kill the kids because either people interrupt or the kids start dragging him somewhere before he can, but let's backtrack to just after ep 3, when the kids seemingly had no idea about possession and didn't take things as seriously as they now are.
What if Eyes has been helping them survive the doll for most of that time between eps 3 and 4? It would explain why they were giving him attention via merch despite him not making a return in this episode.
Surely he would know the doll is possessed. I mean, his large head makes room for a large brain, so I wouldn't be surprised if he knew WAY more than what's shown.
So, he probably knew the doll was possessed, so he started teaching the kids about possession so they'd put two and two together and know what they're up against. He probably used Moloch as an example, explaining how Skid now knows Moloch can possess people. Pump caught on pretty quickly about the reason they're being taught this stuff, which is why he tells Skid that Happy was possessed, but Skid probably thought it was just a fun topic to talk about, which explains why he drew himself, Pump, and probably Happy, all three possessed.
It goes deeper than this, though.
Maybe Eyes also knew that the doll would most likely try to kill the kids, so maybe he's been teaching them to fend for themselves in case of times when he isn't able to help, like if they're inside and away from windows, making Eyes unable to see that they're in danger. They've definitely learned a thing or two about self-defense, since they take Happy's argument seriously, were the ones to push him into the oven, and also the way Skid said "We can deal with it, mom. It's just a doll."
But even if they knew he was gonna hurt them (they were acting like it, anyway), they still stick around him until he gets agressive and taunt him when he DOES. This may be a bit of a stretch, but remember the art on the shirt about Eyes? The kids were basically looking right at him, and I'm pretty sure they knew he was there. Watching them to make sure they don't get hurt.
Maybe they don't care about Happy's malicious intentions because they KNOW what's going to happen to him if he actually lays a finger on them. They don't care about getting hurt, because they know that a certain friend is always there to protect them.
Maybe that's why Eyes didn't interfere this time; To see how the kids handle the things he taught them.
They've learned well...

I love how whenever this guy makes music he incorporates relative sounds to the episode. Ex: in this one, it starts with a winding sound and then it runs. In Compliments to the Chef, there’s a lot of cooking sounds i.e. cutting on a chopping board, shaking salt/pepper/spices, etc. Not to mention how he included the tune of what I believe is the third Spooky Month’s credits theme towards the middle.
