It's maybe also due to the fact Ultra Instinct was being hinted even before Blue. When Goku first meets Beerus on the King Kais world, and he attacks Beerus at Super Saiyan 3, he stops and backs up. Beerus said it was his body's instinct that did that

Super saiyian 2 will always be my favourite. The god forms were introduced too soon after 3 was a thing and felt unearned

I can understand Goku's concept: SSG is just a Godly Saiyan in base form, and SSGSS is the Super Saiyan form of that. But it should have not only happened later (The part when Goku was told that Goku Black stole his body and killed his family would have been the best moment to debut SSGSS), but, like I said with the example, been *earned.* It just showed up through unseen training, and while I understand training to unlock SSGSS, the point of Super Saiyan was the _emotion_ put into it, mainly anger or loss (or Gohan's case, *_fear_* of loss). It would have had a better impact in that regard.
That and it's literally never won a single fight. It's as redundant and unnecessary as SSJ3, but hell, at least SSJ3 made Fat Buu a JOKE after it's debut and it rivaled Kid Buu if not for the unfortunate timer, so at least it's got that going for it compared to SSGSS...

So when he mentions super Saiyan being built up throughout the freeza arc, did anyone else immediately hear Vegeta in their head "bc freeza, you're not dealing with the average Saiyan anymore..." 😂😂

They never should have added new forms beyond god. Goku should have had red hair, and Vegeta should have had blue. That would have made them stand out more.
