Andy is so on point...no other combination of group members could have captured the unique sound and energy that these three had together. One more person or one less or one different would have altered their magic. In addition... I believe that they came together at the right time in each of their lives. Please write books or make video documentaries on each album with The Police, cut by cut, regarding all the techniques and settings you used on all of your guitar parts and any other technical details you can recall during the recordings. Speaking as a guitarist, we would eat that stuff up. You, Andy Summers, are the reason I wanted to play guitar. My brother brought home Zenyatta Mondatta when I was 11 y/o. It changed my life forever.

Can’t believe 40 years - wow! Thankful that they “...knew the formula was all three opinions and not just one set of instincts” - as SC put it. The Police will always be the best band with the best music because they adhered to that formula for as long as they could.

As far as I know, the "Classic Albums" documentaries hasn't covered any of The Police's albums. I know there's an old BBC Radio 4 documentary from a few years ago for Synchronicity. They'd better get around to producing one soon.

In all fairness, when Stewart refers to their ‘known writer of hits’ it mustn’t be forgotten that two of the bands best songs were ‘Darkness’ written by Stewart Copeland and ‘Omegaman’ written by Andy Summers. There in lies the proof that both Andy and Stewart had the talent to come up with beautiful songs which surpass the merits of a great many written by Sting
