It would be interesting to see how the temperature input on your DMM's (BM869s etc.) compare against the Fluke 51.
Also, using your LB02A with the correct temperature compensating cable (and the Cold junction configured) you can easily verify the range. Temperature measurement in general rabbit hole to peer into. Lol

I have the Fluke 64 Max IR thermometer which is similar to the 62 but has a 20:1 spot ratio, this means it can measure a spot from double the distance, a slightly higher temperature range, a built in flash light and it can log up to 99 temperatures and is slightly more accurate according to the specs (1 degree C or 1%, whichever comes first). Outside they look exactly the same though.
What I do find somewhat frustrating about this device is that the battery runs flat even when you don't use it. So it might have the advantage of having to use only one AA, it kind of destroys this by standby consumption.

Since they have amalgamated and use facebook as a distribution channel I have totally switched to competing products. I am more happy with red colored instruments that are far more user friendly.
