This video is a beginners guide to buying. I wished I’d known this when I was starting out, especially when it came to more expensive cameras or lenses. I’ve made some costly errors when buying gear.

You could also just borrow or try a friend’s camera or lens you’re interested in buying as well. Another cheap alternative to trying before buying 🤙📸

Excellent advice my friend. I didn’t know at that time we could that. Personally when I bought my RP although is an excellent camera I would have probably made a different decision. Hope you enjoy your weekend. 📸🙏🏼

Great video Adrian, for those buying a new camera, loads of lenses which I don't use them all! Great idea about hiring out a camera first before buying. Many thanks for sharing the info and have great weekend :)

That's excellent advice, Adrian! Thank you! :)

Top tips here Adrian, absolutely sound advice. I've saved myself quite a few dollars by renting lenses. I've actually never rented a lens that I ended up buying, I just wasn't happy with them. Luckily I have my trinity of lenses and as you know I'm very happy still with my A7R3. Great stuff as always pal. Hope you are doing well, have a wonderful weekend!

I think you may have just saved me a lot of money. I was thinking about buying a Tamron 150-600mm lens for my camera, but was worried how it would go on a Canon. I never even thought about hiring it first. Great tip man, thanks!

Yes! This is such a good idea especially for the older cameras that have been around for a while. When you actually get it, it may be heavier or more cumbersome than you thought or just too difficult to use. Solid advice to avoid big mistakes.

What is strange is I agree completely with everything you said here, but I am also being hypocritical at the same time as I have never done it myself. Maybe instead of hypocritical I guess I am speaking from experience instead. I wished I had used this route when I bought my Z50 as well. I love the camera but I might have tried others that served me better had I not sunk so much into the little machine. Well said Adrian. 👍📸

This is a great advice mate! I’ve been lucky with most of the gear I’ve purchased so far but I definitely would have saved a few bob if I had chosen to rent instead. Cheers👍

Hi Adrian, great video, buddy! I have to say, like the research part :) But yes, there can go a lot of effort in, and in the end, you have not really tried it by that, you just got an idea based on the research data. That sounds like a good idea to rent gear before buying. I never thought about that, to be honest :)
Thank you for the video,
Christian

I did the rental thing, tested a Sony A7 II, a Canon 5D II and a Nikon D850. The A7 was a big disappointment, I expected way more and Im saying this as a former Sony user. The Canon wasnt bad, but well the old D850 took the first spot for me when it comes to landscape and gig shots.

Certainly something I might look at doing next Adrian as I can't decide if I should go A7r4 or 5 or A9mk2 next time😕 Hiring might be the solution👍👍

THAT is a good tip! I am still hanging on to my D850 but am itching to go mirrorless. Maybe I should take your recommendation and rent one. Maybe the Z6II!?!?
Always a pleasure watching your videos.

Good advice! The company I buy used from has a 14 day no questions asked return policy.

Hi Adrian. It has been a while! I have often thought about hiring now I am doing some paid event gigs. So your video is quite timely and useful. Could you advise who you prefer to hire through in Brisbane. As you say the different rental offers differ quite considerably between companies. You can message me directly if you do not want to publish. Would love to catch up again soon.😊
