Christopher Hitchens also said “I believe with absolute certainty that an ethical life with love can be lived without religion. Morover, I am certain as well as you are, where we assemble to agree, that love and morality was happening long before this Iron Age thrown together story of muddle, chaos and revision as one goes along. However, to assert that all people live in another dimension after death is an illusion and absurdity for that which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

The stories of gods are all one and the same, man-made nonsensical fairytales. “

The people who choose to act however they want are likely ostracized by the community. You need other people for the tribe to work, and if someone behaves selfishly they won't survive long. Hitchens is dead and he isn't anywhere now, that's why this guy is arguing against him because Christopher can't voice a rebuttal.

Because it’s detrimental to you to act in such a way, we’re a social species. Even if you only feel a duty towards your own well-being, it’s still better to act in accordance with the well-being of others to better secure your own well-being. Why does a wolf not attack its own pack?
