I Turned a Table into a Living Forest

should I donate it back to the thrift store now?

This was a fun project! It definitely had its challenges, and I went into it with no real well-thought out plan lol but that was all part of the enjoyment. What was once just a regular boring thrift store table, is now a beautiful living forest complete with a legit flowing river!

A man after my own heart! The best way to do many projects is to figure it out as you go. That's how I've done most artistic things from art paintings to woodworking. I made a shoe bench for my sister. Picked the wood, decided the dimensions, figured out the corner splines, and then made up the doors with different lengths of exotic wood. Yes, some black walnut, some curly maple, some cedar, but also ebony, American holly (which is white), bloodwood, Purple heart, Red heart and whatever else I had scraps of. Pleather wrapped tufted top, and voila, a shoe bench. Making things up as you go turns out great! I'd forgotten about the rug that my Sis had in the entry until I placed the bench. Matched perfectly.
