Karina, this is such a great lesson on fabric! I'm new to garment sewing and my fabric knowledge is sorely lacking. With the stay at home orders these past months I've been looking at fabric online and I'm so frustrated because I don't know what to look for and I can't touch any of it! You have answered so many questions about the quality and appropriateness for these fabrics. I know I'm not alone in saying Thank You for your clear, concise lesson and sharing your experience with us. I'm going to wait to buy fabric (because I want to touch it!) and then I will challenge myself with a pair of pants. I'm saving these videos for reference. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤️

Great idea to serge edges after bringing home. I want to again try pants. Fit has always been my trouble. Love all your tips and I am glad I found you.❤️

This was so informative and explains why I have never been happy with any of the pants I made to date. Wrong fabric choices were apparently my specialty. I always picked heavier and stiffer fabrics then I should have. Now, I understand. Thank you for the big eye-opener. I have learned so much!

I've learned so much about different fabrics from this video. It's given me a much better understanding of the look and feel of them. Also, I had no idea that rayon, double gauze etc shrunk so much. Great tip too about serging some fabrics before washing. A big thank you from me Karina!

Excellent video Karina. I think that I have made several garments that did NOT work out due to poor choice of fabric.

Thanks for that. Super helpful. I was thinking of using double gauze but didn’t realise it bagged out so much. Lots of good info.

There are other videos out there about fabric choices but I like yours centered on a specific garment best. It helps me understand more about the fabrics on their own, too. Thank you.

I once made a viscose cami that I didnt prewash, intending it for steam only but it ended up in the wash accidentally 😂 so now its a crop top. Thanks for the informational video!

Just the mention of the crinkle rayon makes me wince. My daughter had a favorite skirt and blouse set (ready made). When I washed it (cold water, gentle wash) I was horrified to pull it out of the washer and see it a shrunken mess. I tried to block it with my hands, but it was a disaster. I’ve since found out that it can be steam ironed back to a semblance of former glory but not before it was thrown out. It did grow and bag as it was worn so my 2 daughters and I have steered completely clear of it. Great information in this series!

Thank you for your wonderful videos. I used to sew many years ago and it’s great to have a place to relearn what to do and how to understand what fabric to use. I didn’t make pants but I am very keen to try as like many people I can’t find any in the shop that fit.
