Velshi: We need to get creative on wildfires – fast

Показать описание
Wildfires are intensifying in size, speed, and destructive power as climate change causes hotter temperature, drier conditions, and stronger winds. In the last thirty years, annual acreage burned by wildfires doubled. And the US Forest Service expects that acreage to double again by mid-century. More than half of the most destructive wildfires in US history have occurred since 2018. Meanwhile, wildfire fighting tactics for detection and suppression haven’t changed in decades - and as the fires get bigger, faster, and deadlier, firefighters can’t keep up. New technologies are needed - soon - to save ecosystems, property, and lives.

They're crying about their AR-15's but humans aren't fit to play with matches.

It would be a very good idea to ask the Yurok Tribe to do the forest management in northern California. There are several other Native Tribes in this area that may also be skilled in forest management.

The powerful need to take climate change seriously. Day dreaming about living on Mars, the moon, or orbiting space stations is not a practical, nor viable solution.

They say I'm broken in the brain
Got a shot of kerosene in my veins
Hey-hey-hey!
They better be concerned now 'cause it's my turn
And I'm only gettin' hotter

Luckily money is going into infrastructure, and the EPA isn't being run by former oil exec's anymore, we might need a fire fighting force though, like the Coast Guard for the land for the resources to be available enough to make a difference.

Bury the power lines, in California. That would cut down the number of fires.

Velshi, love your program, but this is just mixing a bunch of barely related factoids. None of the northern CA wildfires in recent years happened due to a lack of notifications. Sparks/smoke/flames were detected almost immediately. Most of those fires were then pushed by severe winds, unusually low fuel moisture, and dense fuel.

Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only it's form can be altered...All that "burned" energy, after all those decades, is changing into a force we don't know how to control. Perhaps, first nations people had it right with their belief in sustainability and only taking what you need, and giving thanks for what you take, each and every time. Maybe?

Not to worry everyone, AOC said we are all going to get “green energy jobs.” 😂😂😂
