Показать описание
Unlocking the power of multilateral cooperation
for sustainable infrastructure financing and delivery
BACKGROUND and OBJECTIVES
The G20 Sustainable Infrastructure Finance seminar series was initiated by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo to build on the legacy of the G20 Italy, jointly with the G20 Indonesia. The Seminar series is a joint initiative that gathers the T20, D20 and B20, together with the Indonesia Ministry of Finance and the G20 Finance Track. The series was initiated Feb. 17, 2022 with the session Post-pandemic infrastructure and global public goods in the G20. The second seminar took place in May, 24, under the theme Joining forces for recovery and a safe, sustainable future, Assessing a multilateral road map for financing high impact, sustainable infrastructure projects in the G20.
As of the fall of 2022, risks of a global economic recession are multiple, which calls for enduring multilateral dialogue and cooperation to invest in a just energy transition and reach out net zero trajectories. The G20 presidency of Indonesia has set the tone and emphasized the role of sustainable finance, building on the outcomes of the G20 presidency of Italy in 2021.
Whereas infrastructure investments represent a powerful leverage of transformation, navigating overlapping and multiple economic, social, environmental and geopolitical crises requires a new compass, whereby the continuous development of urbanization also calls for improved multilevel governance mechanisms to meet system change.
Throughout 2022, the T20, D20, and B20 have met and deepened their collaboration on several occasions, to explore new policy solutions to de-risk infrastructure investments and overcome the current systemic infrastructure finance gaps gridlock.
The high-level seminar Unlocking the power of multilateral cooperation for sustainable infrastructure financing and delivery will be organized by the G20, together with the T20, D20 and B20 and will be sponsored and hosted by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo. It will gather key public and private players of the global sustainable finance and infrastructure investment scene, ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit and APEC summits of mid-November in Bali, and the handover of the G20 Presidency from Indonesia to India.
