What's going on Initiate, Bird here and in this video we are going over one of the most fearsome dragons in any of the souls universes, we have Bayle The Dread from Elden Ring!

Bayle the Dread was a legendary black dragon who is said to be the ancestor of the drakes or lesser dragons. Long ago, Bayle betrayed the Ancient dragons and clashed with Dragonlord Placidusax. Their vicious battle ended in stalemate and left both dragons with grievous injuries and loss of body parts, with Bayle losing both wings and his left leg, with the dreaded dragon fleeing to the Land of Shadow soon afterwards.

Finishing him with the Placidusax spell, makes me think that Bayle at his last moments understood that you're no drake warrior, you're the strongest thing he ever seen, a being so strong that we defeated the thing he is most afraid of.

Correction: the things sticking out of farum azula is not the remanants of Placidusax it's his species. He is the last of his species, the predecessors of the ancient dragons (in the code Placidusax is neither specified as dragon or ancient dragon. I think this is a kind of parallel to the huge huge skulls in caelid and the mountaintops, indicating that life has been a thing for a very long long long time, where humans were gigantic and Placidusax species was the dragons of that time)

Placidusax only lost 2 heads on the fight, he was already missing one as seen on the Old Lord's Talisman

I believe that this fight takes place before the two realms were separated, because when we factor in Marika, the injuries Placidusax suffered was the perfect opportunity for her to take over because the Empyrean of that age no longer has her Elden Lord to protect her. Another thing is Placidusax only sealed himself and Farum Azula away in the storm after he lost his god, so if Bayle sought to attack him after that he wouldn't be able to reach it anyway

Bayle didn't betrayed the ancient dragons, Placudisax was judging the drakes as "lesser beings" and killed them. Bayle was on his list too, so Bayle fought back.

I think that ancient dragon was there to test the tarnished not betraying the ancient dragons to see if he was worthy of fighting bayle. Placidusax might have sent him there to test anybody before fighting bayle.
