Manitoba Functional Foods Cluster

Manitoba is home to a cluster of organizations that work in synergy in the area of functional foods and include: Food Development Centre, Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals and Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM).

This group's activities are coordinated by Manitoba Agriculture Health Research Network (MAHRN) whose activities centre on research, development and commercialization of evidence supported food and food ingredients that address chronic lifestyle related disease conditions including cardiovascular disorders and diabetes.

This cluster's involvement in functional foods and nutraceuticals carries a broad reach and covers the entire chain of the industry from farm gate through to the clinical/hospital institutions to food processors developing foods with health promoting properties.
