I just passed the class, and did well on my exam. I am currently on the floor for clinicals awaiting my test in the next month

When we wash our hands after greeting the resident and telling them what care will be given to them, should we get the item’s needed for care, pull the privacy curtain, check if the bed wheels are locked, see if the bed is low and safe, give them the call light then raise the bed to a height that’s suitable for us? After doing all that what do we do next, wash hands again or just put on gloves ?

Isn’t the idea here to not cross contaminate? So who would forget to use hand sanitizer stepping into a room with a Patient you are about to touch? Keep germs outside the room outside the room and keep germs inside the room inside the room. Seems pretty simple to me.
