The 2025 BMW M3 Competition vs M340i - Which ONE Reigns Supreme?

👋 In todays head to head comparison, we check out the 2025 BMW M3 Competition and the 2025 BMW M340i! These are both very popular performance sedans from BMW and have a lot to offer!
The 2025 BMW M3 Competition has the M sport automatic transmission and is such a cool performance sedan! I love how the new 2025 BMW M3 has new styling and an aggressive look! The front bumper has the vertical kidney grilles and honestly looks really cool especially with the rest of the contoured lines throughout the rest of the car! The front end is the most aggressive with that design, but it flows nicely to the hood and the rest of the body! The G80 2025 BMW M3 shifts very quick and there are different setting to choose from depending on your driving style! A manual transmission is also available for this family sedan, but you have to get the non-competition model! I love how driver focused this BMW feels and it's super solid! I was able to take the BMW M4 Competition to the mountains and it handled incredibly well, so I would assume this M3 could handle turns and be a blast in the twisties! The power from the turbo engine was super smooth too. I love the exhaust sound on the 2025 BMW M3 Competition and it was beefy! This particular 2025 BMW M3 Competition had a bolt color combo with the frozen preciosa metallic and carbon bucket seats! Definitely a custom ordered car and unique!! The interior of the 2025 M3 was very nice with leather on many parts and had a performance feel while still being comfortable and roomy. The standard seats are comfortable and there is the option for the carbon buckets which are also great and hands down one of the best, if not the best factory bucket seat available! Both these seats are comfortable and supportive! This also had the all new infotainment system and new shifter design! Both look fantastic for this BMW! The 2025 G80 BMW M3 Competition also had the carbon fiber roof and staggered wheels to give it extra style. The 2025 BMW M3 Competition is also very wide looking with big fender arches and overall its an awesome car! This is a great daily driving sedan if you need the room and want the performance!
The 2025 BMW M340i packs the B58 engine paired to a mild hybrid system. With 382 Horsepower and 369 torque, the M340i can do 0-60 in 4 seconds! This 2025 BMW M340i was finished in portomio blue metallic with the ivory white interior. I really like the shadow line package with all the black accents for the exterior and wheels! The M compound brakes have the red calipers and overall this is a sharp looking sedan! Driving the BMW M340i is about what you would expect. It's an easy car to drive and very smooth and comfortable. Tech works well and doesn't take too long to figure out the big screen. I like the power you get out of the B58 engine with the mild hybrid system. Very smooth delivery and you can tell the M340i has a perfect blend of comfort and performance. This car is also not too aggressive for daily driving. In comfort mode it feels like a basic 3 series. So very easy to live with on the day to day. Significantly different than an M3 for sure!

great review. I had the g20 m340 and loved it. It is a solid car with great resale value. I wanted a full M model and made the switch before they took away the buttons. Only thing about the m340 was having full M envy the entire time. Got the M4 and no regrets. Beautiful beast

The M3 was missing the carbon exterior package, that changes the front looks quite significantly. Got it on my G81 M3 Touring, looks lovely!

I owned the 2011 335 for almost 10 years now and I wonder if I should settle for an M3 40 or finally get a new M3 car. I remember years ago being behind an M3 before they were made with all wheel drive and I said to myself if there ever made with extra on buying one, so I think I’m gonna hold myself to it lol. The fact you can get an M3 with X is amazing at four doors truly amazing.

I chose the m340i over the m3 for various reason, daily driver, way less maintenance/ avoid the M tax, and cost wise with xdrive for an m3 is 90k+. I love my M Lite

I ended up getting the M340i as the M3 is so much money for me right now. But I got plenty of power with the M340i as I came from driving a Buick Regal (grandpa car) so I’m content with this car.

S58 FTW! Mine made 771 WHP with stock turbos and port injection. Just needs a spicy tune by Paul Johnson and good DA to get there. We were pretty impressed with the results! Upgraded turbos will comfortable make 900 whp on stock motor. My friend’s Pure Turbos G80 did 930 WHP on stock motor.

i daily drive the m3 comp, never been to a track, but i go fast around turns, off stop lights and tunnels/overpasses.

Great video, love M content. I bought a '20 M5 competition three years ago. There was never any consideration for the M550. I daily drive the M5, and it's semi comfortable. U keep everything in Sport+ all the time anyway. I just wouldn't have been able to deal with seeing a real M5 in a M550, and wishing I went all in. These guys try me from time to time, i guess thinking there's not a huge performance difference...it is. There's plenty of the M5 lights around, most of the time they have the same looks on their faces 😕 Maintenance? Well, I think to keep ANY BMW running properly, and not awaiting a tow truck, it's going to have to be maintained.

M3 comp is the one to have, but it's definitely not on the cheap side😅 Either car will make you smile!

M340i no longer comes with storage behind the front seats. Smh. The engine cover looks vague compared to the Pre-LCI and LCI 1. I dont know if anyone miss the shift lever from the Pre LCI. Isnt it supposed tl give you that driver enthusiastic vibes like the M3 competition?

I like the M3 better ... the older BMW 326, 327, 328, 501, 502, 503 all had similar large vertical grill as the M3 .... so it is the most original BMW

How stiff is the M3's suspension in comfort mode? Is the ride a lot firmer than the 340i? Would your back hurt after a long drive?
