It's a good looking car for it's time. The Contessa hit peak popularity in the 90s. With the Isuzu 1800cc petrol, it was punchy and fun. But it was also difficult to maintain and spent a lot of time in the workshop. If a few examples survive, it's because the owners are very attached to those cars.

In Bengaluru there are so many Audis, BMWs and all that people are now used to it and don't even notice them at all but once I saw a Contessa passing by and then I realised I wasn't the only one gazing at it. I would love to own a Contessa one day. This is the OG muscle car of India. Simply a timeless beauty. 😍

Loved this car...had taken a brief ride as a phone cab service when my uncle had visited India when i was 6yrs old...
I know it was a licensed remake of a foreign brand..

But this looked unique in the 90s considering we had just 7-8 other cars at the time😅

And the impala was already out of India by late 80s
