you can actually see through the screen all the pain and stress sacrificed between the two sides of the story. they each have their own sacrifices, and the acting is just the cherry on top.

The way they look at each other is like a silent plea for help. Their expressions are so perfectly on point.

As the " smart kid" i relate to this. It took me years to make friends with my classmates. I wanted to be a kid with many, true friends. It wasn't popularity for me. I just wanted to have friends that just got me.

The way they look at eachother, it feels like they’re both doing a cry for help 😭

It’s a difficult balance. Sometimes it’s impossible to have both, but it really helps to make friends that motivate you, are focused on grades too, and are just good people/friends.

They parallel each other while the slight personality difference is clear and you can see it in every detail all the way down to the angle of the lighting. Well done.

to anyone about to read, I just wanna vent about being the smart one for a bit. people call me the teacher’s pet just because I actually pay attention, get good grades, and teachers praise me. it’s just so frustrating being the smart kid. you’ve got people who partner with you just so you can do all of the work while they pretend to understand, people who assume you know everything in the whole world, and people who call you teacher’s pet. I used to be friends with the “popular” girl but she completely ghosted me because I wasn’t pretty enough and I also probably wasn’t “fun” enough (I didn’t wanna risk a trip to the principal’s office or detention; doing something that could get us in trouble). because no matter what I do, I will never be enough. I don’t even know who my friends are anymore.

As someone who goes to a highly competitive school, the good kids get everything. My best friend, for example, has straight A's and is very popular with our classmates. Good for her, she deserves it.

This is very true. When I started focusing on my studies and started to improve, I lost many friends.

omg that look that they gave eachother is so well done 😩
the popular girl looks like she once couldve been that smart if she js tried, almost like she missed her opportunity, and the “nerd” looks like she wishes to one day experience what the popular girls life is like

Finally I found a short that really relates to me, I’m always so silent and focused on schoolwork because I am a quiet kid but now it feels like no matter what I do I will never be able to balance those 2 .

When they get to college, each one always flips to the person they couldn’t be, only to find that the grass was never greener to begin. The grass was “greener” because it was fake grass. In other words, they both had problems anyway. Envy is useless.
