Animation isn't a genre, it's a medium just the same as any other drama, action, comedy, and more. Animation isn't for children, at least most, since adults can enjoy them too, and they don't make you less of an adult.

“When you’re a kid, nothing touches animation.”

I’m 22 and this is still true

Castlevania was also a HUGE step forward for Western adult-oriented animation. The animation is very heavily anime influenced with a killer story and brought to life a whole new world. Highly recommend.

“A Silent Voice” is one of the most stunning movies I’ve seen. Yes the story would have worked as a live action but anyone who’s seen it would agree that the melancholy, hopeful, devastating feeling that movie creates would be completely lost if the animation was gone. It’s gorgeous and that story of redemption would not have been as hard hitting in live action.

people look at me weird when i tell them ratatouille is one of my favorite movies of all time. like, it’s not inappropriate in anyway for children but the movie itself like…don’t feel like it’s specifically made *for* children. it’s the feeling of a piece of art, a story that creative people are invested in telling us, it hits all the notes and more BECAUSE it’s animated.

Dude, Prince of Egypt was and still is my JAM. "The Plagues" is still unrivaled in the history of cinema, change my mind.

Even the DC animated universe with their mature like movies don't get as much love as they deserve.

I AM SO HAPPY YOU TALKED ABOUT THIS. As an artist, shows like Arcane were absolutely astounding, and that paired with plot and pacing made it a 10/10 for me. However, a shill of the show was so difficult because it was 'for kids.' just respect quality shows, animated or not!

This man is single handedly improving the taste of a generation. Every time a video drops I am either introduced to something new and awesome, or given a fresh perspective. Its a CLASSIC EVERYTIME

Amazing how this got recommended to me after the disrespect that animation got from the Oscars, where they basically said ''Animation is the thing that kids love, and us adults have to endure.''

Great video, by the way.

The Prince of Egypt is legit one of the best films ever made, animated or not. Beautiful visuals on top of a powerful story, great characters and music that goes way too hard. Great to see more people give that film some love, keep it up Nathan!

As an animator it is so refreshing seeing everyone slowly notice how powerful this art form is. We're in a paradigm shift in animation and I can't wait to be a part of it and share it with the world. Thanks for helping put some respect on us, it means the world. (Also another instant classic LETS GO)

Akira was the first film that showed me a glimpse of animation's true potential. I still remember the uproar over Princess Mononoke being released in theatres here. In spite of the ratings people kept bringing small children to watch it because "it's animation so it must be for kids!" They actually got it pulled from one of our local cinemas for being inappropriate for children. That was my first true realization of how little respect animation gets. I'm still livid about that.

I’m so tired of the obsession with live action, and in particular live action remakes. Animation inherently defines the story, and thus when something gets translated from animated to live action it *changes* and sometimes *destroys* the original intention of the story. Animation is a beautiful art form and it allows for cinematography that is impossible to achieve through live action.

I really recommend watching The Amazing World of Gumball because from the outside it looks like a stupid kids show but when you watch it you realize how much effort was put into it and how it is also quiet enjoyable for all ages
