Soldering with the camera I find super awkward. I also prefer to do it off camera and then just show the finished product :D

Good vid thanks. I saw an Atari 2600 with a few cartridges about a month ago at the local tip for $10 in their recycle section. I was going to buy it but passed on it. If I knew you could mod it like this I would of bought it I will definitely keep my eye open from now on

Console mods are fun. I have a non-working 2600 I'd like to get going, then maybe do this mod on it too.

You are actually incorrect about everything being off the shelf as far as the electronic parts go. The TIA (Audio, video) IC is proprietary Atari, but they allowed chinese component manufacturers to manufacture the IC to cut costs. That led to all the clones on the market. I actually got a lot of 10 Pal TIA's and 3 NTSC TIA's from china (Aliexpress and UTSOURCE) as spares. Nice mod too, shame about the hole though. I s-video modded my 2600's but that is a lot more work.
