$80 for a Life is Strange sequel is next level greed. The original Life is Strange game was $30.00

Is it just me or does it seem like publishers are trying to outdo themselves on idiotic practices like this?

I'm sick and tired of this "pay more to play early" trend. You're literally paying extra for nothing.

Isn't Life is Strange already a niche franchise made on a budget? Who the heck is paying $30 extra to play LiS two weeks early?

The pricing for this game is mind boggling to me. I thought Life is Strange was a $30 indie series 🤔 why do they expect people to ever pay that just for early access?

Two weeks on a narrative driven game is probably the worst plan possible, because the people who don't want to or can't pay that much, will be sick of hearing about the game, and will have had everything spoiled by the time the two weeks is up. Ultimate dick move that may backfire spectacularly, and I'm here for it.

These games are so short, I'm going to just wait til the whole thing is out and discounted. I waited over 2 years before I played True Colors. That cost is ridiculous.

Minor nitpick, the order of events at 6:18 is wrong. The remaster was done at the same time as True Colors' release. The order is LiS 1 by Dontnod, Before the Storm by D9, LiS 2 by Dontnod, True Colors and Lis1/BtS remastered by D9.

With this i feel like they are testing the waters here.

Thats why they use a rather .. small game for this stuff.
But with 2 weeks difference, i as a customer would just say: i dont pay full price at all, either its sale or no go, because why pay full price for getting treated as 2nd rate customer?
The other part is: the story is not griping enough that people would feel addicted here and the fomo.

Also, 2 weeks early access .. probably for a bug riddled experience at launch anyway.

Also with the longer these early access periods are, the more time you give the internet to make pirating a good experience. I doubt this will really get them profit.

And my usual world view ranting: its just so sad, that apparently, there is no company left in this world that just doesn't try to milk people and deliver nothing in return. Where is our society reset button?

I've been saying since the introduction of the "pay for early access" model that eventually it would go from days to weeks. Once they've normalize 3 days early, then they can start stretching it to a week, then two weeks, etc. Its Oblivion horse armor all over again.

They're putting a 2 week fomo charge on a game that is coming out in an Autumn that is packed with other releases... I don't think it's gonna go well for them when people will happily take that extra 2 weeks to play other titles first.

The "line has to go up" attempts are getting more and more Desperate.

The slippery slope going strong. Where are the "It's just 2 days early access guys" people.

New tactic gonna be 1 year early access for premium edition, exclusive game for those who pay. It's gonna be so funny if this shit will make people push even stronger into pirating these games.

Countdown to "it didn't meet our expectations"

These companies just love saving me money. Here's another game I can put off until it goes on a steam sale. Thanks SquareEnix

AAA industry as a whole has convinced me that everything they touch is not worth my time and money. I will stick to indie companies (as long as they don't get absorbed by AAA publishers)

2 weeks early just means the poor plebs who "only" pay full price are getting it 2 weeks late.

"Chapter 1 & 2" so you pay for an extended Demo.

Are you saying squenix has given the pirates to weeks to crack their game?
Its essentially f2p!

Companies trying to charge extra so players can play early, meanwhile a lot of players (me included) prefer to wait for at least a couple of weeks after a game release to buy it so we can see the reviews and also get a better, more stable and less buggy experience. And maybe wait even longer to get it cheaper.
by the way, will the mandatory "day one patch" be released two weeks early too or will it be released alongside the regular version?
