Hot pot hack!

All the hotpots in my area do NOT let you take leftovers. They are all you can eats, so they charge you for what you dont eat and you have to leave that on the table.

I feel like only Haidilao does this. I was shocked when saw people packing to-go boxes there. All the hot pot places I have been to don’t allow to go boxes so I was a little embarrassed to ask at first. But the customer service there is amazing.

This isn’t a hack bc only about 0.001% of hotpot places (the 0.001% being the one she went to) will let you take home leftovers.

Lots of ppl are saying the spots they go to won’t allow this, I’d HIGHLY recommend checking the menu, Places that serves hot pot & kbbq gives you the OPTION to AYCE OR a la carte, you’re not allowed to take leftovers for AYCE(obvious reasons) but if you order la carte you can take everything home for set price. ❤❤ I live in USA!

Each place has a policy about to-go

Many near me are All You Can Eat so no leftovers. You can’t stuff the pot and expect to take it with you!

The ones that charge per weight/per item let you take it home bc you paid for the items so legally it’s all yours.

I recommend you change the brand of vinegar that you are using, they were recently recalled in Singapore due to exceeding the regulatory amount of sulfur compounds I think.

Oh Haidilao, the best hotpot ever. I haven’t asked about taking the actual soup, but they have given me the sachets to make it myself. It could be a translation thing as I’m a foreigner, I can’t speak Chinese and they can’t speak English 😅

My favorite hotpot thing is what I like to call “The End Game”. Once I’ve had my fill, let the broth reduce down. Once it has, I crack an egg into it and let it poach. I then take my remaining rice that’s been flavored by all the sauce I have left. I scoop a ladle of the broth onto the rice and stir through, just enough to make it into a thick porridge. I let the egg cook until only the white is set, then scoop it into the porridge, break the yolk and stir through. It is honestly the best part of it in my opinion.
