Landlords in Los Angeles and the surrounding area are finally going to be able to increase their rents after 3+ years as the pandemic rental protections are finally coming to an end.

Landlords of rent controlled buildings had been stuck under a rent freeze for the last three years and Los Angeles, as well as Beverly Hills, are finally ending those rent freezes. The question is if it’s too late.

Why don't these landlords get together and sue for all their lost rent? The government had no business forcing citizens to pay the rent and bills for another citizen during a pandemic!

Did anyone believe that they'd get their back rent paid when the government told tenants, "you're still responsible to pay your rent, you just don't have to pay right now"

Why bother renting out rooms in a Beverly Hills mansion if the government is gonna restrict the crap out of you? I bet there are mansions with only 1 lonely person living there.

In many of the markets I am in, real-estate is being gobbled up by investors in short-term rentals. Very few houses available at any price.

Just on squeezing landlords, Cali. And keep on wondering why you don't have affordable housing.

Just recently there was articles and videos saying that a two mile strip of RV encampments taking over Beverly Hills. It also showed that they dump their sewage onto the streets. They rent out the RV's. Neighbors complain of the foul orders. Totally Gross

They should of never put this burden on the landlords anyway. I think the state should have to pay the landlords if the tenants don't

Will this help the rent affordability problem? Of course not. Getting a better job or a second job helps but people are too lazy.

Nova Scotia brought in 2 year 'temporary rent cap" during the pandemic. Allowed 2% increase. Extended the rent cap, but allowed us a 5% increase starting Jan 2024, until 31 Jan 2024.
Before it expires, landlords expect this 'temporary' rent cap will be extended again

I had a service business in BH and there is an older more crowded area that has reasonable rents but I have never ever met any one that only pays 600 .I have seen many at 1200 for a tired old building.

They should be able to increase rent more. It is a business that has higher costs. Move if you can't afford it.

I live in Mid City - Miracle Mile and there's literally at least one house/apartment for rent/sale on every block. This is just the beginning.

The Real Deal has such good articles. I'm thinking of paying the $200 a year to be able to read all Real Deal articles.

The government gives $20 Billion annually in subsidies to the fossil fuel industry. Move that money to address the housing crisis in partnership with quality/responsible/effective landlords
