Shorts are a must in the southeast. I’m tall with long legs, so I find the 10” inseam correct for me. I’m also 60, so wearing short shorts is not age appropriate.

Hi John, this video popped up in my recommended feed. Just want to say that the 6” shorts look great on you. They allow for some of you quad to show through, which makes you legs look more athletic and muscular. As long as you continue to train legs in the gym don’t be afraid to show a little of that hard work off. I’m 26, 6’ and wear 5” & 6” inseam usually and have gotten used to showing a lot of my thighs off. It felt weird at first but now I honestly could care less. And no, I don’t think shorter shorts on older men are age inappropriate. If you have decent calves and thighs and are comfortable showing them then do it. I’m super glad to see an older gentleman discussing fashion for men over 40 because I don’t think it’s discussed enough but should be, so good on you!

I'm in a hot climate. I've been having great luck with shorts in a linen-cotton blend. They're much more breathable than chino-style shorts.
Since I'm 5'11" or so, I've been getting 9" inseam shorts. I could probably wear 8" inseams also, but that's a less common length (from what I've seen).

I’m 39, 5’5” and my preferred length is 6” inseam. I also live in SoCal like you. I have a couple of 5” shorts and it takes a lot of confidence to pull ‘em off. 😂
I only wear the 5”s when I’m at the beach. Y’all have a good weekend!

I am 5'10 and I prefer 10" inseam. It is just a personal choice, I like shorts close to my knees.
Shorts from the old days were too wide, it is true.

I'm 5' 7" and I have found that 6-7" slim shorts are perfect for my frame. Shorts that are longer than 7" make me look ridiculously short.

Great tips and timely, as it is starting to get warmer here near Philly. I'll need to revisit the jean shorts. Haven't owned a pair in years. But these new jeans shorts aren't your father's old jean shorts of the 80's, thank god lol.

Haven’t looked at anything new in modern Denim shorts in a long time. May have to looking into that.
