I currently have an Atem Mini Pro. Getting this in addition would be a good addition. I can now have up to 7 cameras on a live production. Feeding all 4 SDI inputs and 3 HDMIs, Then converting one SDI output into HDMI and sending it into the Atem Mini pro as a single input. I will then monitor the entire production on the Atem Mini Pro's Multi View. That's just an additional $345 with so much flexibility.

And here I was planning for a rack box installation with BiDir converters... hm. Maybe I'll wait a bit.
Hopefully they launch a 4K product before I cave in! :D

Oh why not 4 HDMI plus 4 SDI, and split the outputs too……. Would have been perfect. I’d be surprised if there are many customers that want ALL SDI at this price range.

Hi! We have now so many options to choose from...so there is one thing I would really like BMD to explain and that is the talkback function - since the Extreme has now 4 SDI outputs just like the Tv Studio HD, this would in theory make it possible. I own the TV Studio HD and ATEM Extreme ISO and I was considering replacing all the cameras with the Studio 4K Pro with Studio Converter, but this would only make sense if this also allowed for bi-directional communication (which I now have solved externally, just like tally). Does anyone have any experience making the talk/back (I do not really need the ops to talk BACK, but I sure need to talk to THEM :)?

every production I've been on uses a mix of hdmi inputs usually min x4 (but these days of streaming that can be like x8) and sdi inputs typically 2-3...
gotta think how to integrate SDI cam switching into an hdmi version? or is it the other way around?
just buying heaps of decimators seems stupid?
or how long will we wait until they come out with an extreme that mixes the inputs up?

How will camera control work? Does this mean no tally unless you use one of the outputs?

Would have loved to see a 2 HDMI/2 SDI input model with 1 HDMI out for preview and 1 SDI out for program. Double that for the SDI extreme.

it's too bad that they did NOT include HDMI inputs for these 3 models. wow I'm kinda surprised. I know SDI is the professional standard but prosumer gear would be nice to plug in also. :(

OMG, I think Alex Pettit had been hinting at the release of an SDI ATEM Mini line, and here it is not two weeks later. No more BMD Micro-BiDi adapters needed if you got SDI cams/SDI monitors/Ultra-studio, .. the list goes on and on. As you pointed out, I'm hoping the BMD Constellation 4M/E HD purchasers (Aaron P. and Ryan S. especially) get their units soon.

Why is the multiview output done only by SDI and not via HDMI? An SDI monitor is very expensive or we have to use a converter. I’m missing something? 🤔

Intresting choice I wanted super source and wonder when the 4k sdi models will hit and how much more that will be if this is same price points as hdmi. I really like the dual sdi to cam to controll it and fear that this is a stop gap between a super hight price 4k sdi new with super source and Fairlight atem. Like starting at 3k or more but thats just a guess

I think 'Sting' is meant for Stinger Transition, that you can upload image sequence or webm or alpha mov file to create stinger transition

Make sure this is the right model for you. You need an HDMI input for computers and most (if not all) DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Seems that BMD aimed this for professional videographers and not Youtube content creators.

Hi, how can we Multiview monitor? This switcher does not have HDMI output. SDI monitor are bit costly. But if we use SDI-HDMI convertor, this will kill the purpose of portability. Also why does Blackmagic not allowing audio output for large spankers etc.
