The $250 and $199 Choyongs you highlight are two different radios. The LC90 and the LC90 Mini. The Ali Express listing for 16.29 is for the brown carrying case. I have a Choyong LC90. It is a great FM radio and exceptional internet radio, but the shortwave and AM are sub-par.

That first radio: couldn't be made at that price. It MIGHT be an early version, which had problems. (the Official SWL channel, the Canadian guy) helped the designer sort stuff out.

The TEF 66etc looks really good to me, it's gotten good reviews, but it was out of stock on Amazon.
If it pops up again, I'm buying.

the one you are looking at for $199. is the LC90 mini which is a smaller version of the LC90

All of the LC90 radios listed on Ali Express are over $250. What you most likely found was a fluke that was quickly corrected.

I am registered blind and I can use that radio. I have one. The firmware doesn’t need to be updated if it isn’t already however it works perfectly well once it’s updated and you can use your voice and say what radio station you want to listen to or what sort of genreI hope this helps

I order an LC90 radio when they first came out from q Amazon. It was a real disappointment, as it did not function as advertised. I returned it after a few days of evaluation. I since learned that they had a problem with the radio’s firmware, which I think has been corrected. I have moved on, however, and will not be reordering anytime soon.
