Here are 2 performances by Robert John of his number 1 hit song of 1979, "Sad Eyes". The Brooklyn born singer wrote this melodic ballad himself and was able to use a fine falsetto in his rendering of a previous hit cover of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" originally introduced by The Tokens.

The 1970s was one of the greatest decades of music EVER, and it's songs like this that made it one of the most amazing times to be growing up listening to the radio!

This song brings back memories of my husband who died in 2001. He left me just like the song says. Now every time I hear the song I start to cry 😢. Such a beautiful song 🎵.

Robert John had one of the best if not the best octave voices I've ever heard. I'm surprised he didnt record many more songs. Guy had a phenomenal singing pipes.
