As a suggestion for the gap behind the special edition... Amazon sells clear L-shape gap blockers for under the couch that could help prevent the books from falling into the abyss behind the shelf. You can use 3M removable tape to secure the blocker to the wall, to the shelf or both.

She library looks great but dont feel bad about the book you had to pull from under the bed... treat them as placeholders for books you will love to display later 😊
