I grew up with guns, but thankfully was always a realist. The more I learn and understand about the world, guns included, I realize we need change. Safety training is a MUST, and I'm honestly baffled it's not required. My father had all of us take a firearm safety class, in addition to extensive safety training at home. We need better permits and regulations for how firearms are purchased. You can buy a fully automatic weapon if you have the correct licensing. My confusion? Why my family opposes all of this, and freaks out when you mention a mental health screening. I just return with the response they give when cops want to illegally search a black person: if you've done nothing wrong, then you have nothing to worry about!
