"good" - ehh. Doesn't weaker PPI indicate weaker industrial demand? Unless it is all because of a stronger dollar, but that would not affect CPI very much. Except for oil, PPI and CPI are not strongly correlated anyway. I would watch oil prices carefully. Production capacity globally is extremely constrained right now. Higher prices will indicate economic growth but also higher inflation (although not core AT FIRST which perversely excludes energy) which will rise out of proportion to any economic growth because of oil supply constraints. But lower prices will indicate a failing global economy. Either way is bad news.
