I've watched several of your videos, but this one popped up just when I needed it most. Going from training problem horses, to working with dogs in rescue had me on the fence about training methods, but you really helped to clarify that what I knew in my gut was a lot of hype about certain methods is just that. There aren't enough carrots in the world to teach a horse to respect your personal space, but leadership works wonders. Thank you so much for this video.

Love this ! Dogs are so much smarter than we give them credit for.
My GSD kept biting his fav herding ball rather than herding it properly which was wearing away his lower canines. I started saying “no bite” and removing the ball for ten minutes. Behaviour completely stopped by day two. Same with pushing toys under the couch and whining. Got the toy out and put away rather than returning it to him . He stopped . My fearful boy hated walking with a harness, would tuck tail and slink away . Collar and leash not much better. He was scared, trying to escape almost everywhere we went and reactive and stressed. Watched tutorial here on proper prong collar usage and Boom ! My boy comes straight to me tail up and happy to walk within a week.
Totally changed our lives! He heels almost perfectly on a loose leash. We stop and talk to passers by, he never barks anymore, doesn’t pull, we can go into stores. It is truly amazing !

I accomplished more in one month just watching and implementing what I learned from this channel than 3 months and a few thousand on a dog trainer.

Thank you! As I develop my own training philosophy, this video was timely and so important. Balanced is where it's at. I would not lovingly tell my kids not to cross the road or ignore them. I won't let my foster dogs engage in potentially dangerous behavior that will get them killed (or continue to fail adoptions, etc.).

Your videos have helped me deal with anxiety and fear in my 3.5 year old adopted lab/hound mix. She still has reactions, but thanks to you my whole family knows how to calm her and let her know everything is ok. And the reactions keep getting less and less. Keep doing what you do Tom.

I meant to comment on this video a few years ago. This is hands down one of the best videos anybody could ever watch. I've had my own business as a dog trainer for 2 years now in the UK and I came across this as I'm doing an official video for my clients on the four quadrants. I'm not going to dog body language and the four quadrants were the hardest things I ever learnt in dog training but I grasped them with inside a few months. Whilst I understand dog body language in the four quadrants, it's very hard to put it in layman's terms like you've done. Your theory and practical training is second to none. The way you deliver the message is absolutely brilliant, I've learnt a lot from your teaching as a trainer. Thank you so much and keep up the good work and forget the haters. They're misguided and missing out on so much. Let keep dogs away from kill shelters/re homing with education and fun!

I have seen SO MANY dog Karen's who think that their way is the only way. That they know literally everything. That their information is the only valid information. The worst part is that they get this from those exact ads. Even the educated ones are educated one side of the spectrum and don't want to understand why balance works. I am so happy you made this video explaining it without the bias most trainers have. The marketing of bad information is like a virus.
