Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia ECG
Respiratory sinus arrhythmia is a benign phenomenon in which the P-P interval varies with respiration. The rhythm is regularly irregular; the heart rate increases during inspiration and decreases during expiration. The variation between shortest and longest cardiac cycle length (i.e., P-P intervals) is greater than 10% (or 120 ms). The heart rate is between 60 and 100 beats per minute, although it may momentarily extend beyond these limits. It is important to note that this is in fact a sinus rhythm. Every QRS complex is preceded by a P wave, which have a constant morphology and are upright in leads II and III. The PR intervals are also constant.
