The flag of British East India Company is indeed the base for the current flag of Malaysia because the flag of Majapahit was once belonged to both Malaysia and Indonesia before the British captured the flag, incorporated the Union Jack in the flag of Majapahit, used it as their own and went on to invade Malaysia. Then, in 1957, we technically took "their flag", erase the Union Jack with blue paint, drawing the yellow crescent and star (the same symbols as in the flag of the Sultanate of Malacca) into the empty blue canton, and voila! It becomes our current national flag!
