"Half Nelson" is such an analytic, character driven, critical, daring, great, honest, human, humble, precise, realistic, succinct, touching, well observed film, that it is really incredible that something like it was getting made in our time. I just wish that Hollywood were still or again making movies like this one. It shows you don't need a mega-budget to make a fantastic film.

Dr K has changed his tune about Half Nelson because when it initially was released he didn't like it that much. Well it is good to know that he does have an open mind.

Rewatched it recently and it made me realise we were spoilt for good films around that time. I thought it was average when it came out but it's aged really well. This kind of film now would be made as a middling Prime mini series

Yet when it came out he thought it was shite. No issue about changing your mind, but at least acknowledge it.

come on!!! The film is mildly diverting at best, and hackneyed in so many ways. The above quote is one of the most overblown summaries I've ever heard.
