They illegally seized the Russian central bank reserves and they still expected to be able to pay for real gas with digital 'printed' currency

You mock the Russian 'peasants' for having no power to stop the war.
Of the seemingly endless American-sponsored wars since WWII, how many have the American peasants stopped??
You guys are good, but sometimes you don't see the irony of your own words and positions.

Countries artificially try to control the value of their currency all of the time. Every time the Fed changes interest rates they are artificially changing the value of the US dollar. Government spending also artificially affects the value of currency.

It just shows how irrelevant the US really is

I remember how US sanctions toppled the Castro regime in Cuba and the Kim regime in North Korea.

The key there is "official", the real exchange rate is much lower. This happens in all countries with capital controls.

imagine thinking Ukraine doesn't have 1000x more to do with Russian national defense, than Iraq ever did with US national security, now compare Yemen

Russia and China are doing business as usual with fossil fuel meetings and deals with India, Turkey, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia with agreements to pay for fossil fuels in their currency and rupies for example undercutting the Euro and the Petrodollar. You are wrong about rouble because the petrodollar has been propped up since the U.S. made a deal with the Saudi's in the early 1980's to have countries pay for oil in dollars. It looks like that is coming to an end.

It isn't about how much suffering sanctions can create, it is about how much pain the target can bear. Americans don't understand the impact of WW2 on Russian history. Every Russian knows that they stood alone and suffered greatly fighting the Nazis but ultimately they triumphed.
Russia still maintains concepts of strength, duty and honour. They haven't "progressed" to the "all about me stage" of the western Utopian dream. Men and women in Russia are tough and resourceful.
Wait till the West has to make do without they binky and crayons and we will see who comes out better. Forgoing Facebook, Twitter and McDonalds are not existential threats.

Huh…unintended consequences?
When has that ever happened? 😉

these 2 do this nonsense all the time. You don't measure the results of sanctions in a month. go look at the rubles value since they invaded Crimea in 2014. I'm not even pro sanctions and i think this is 1st grade level analysis

The U. S. effectively ended fertilizer sanctions in rule 6a.

Domestically, the ruble is backstopped by $600 billion in gold reserves, which Russia started increasing in 2014 (Geez, what else happened in that part of the world in 2014?). Also, given the euro-dollar banking system - a system of off-shore banking that the Fed does not understand and/or will not acknowledge, keeping the Russian economy afloat should not be too hard.

Another great example that shows the effectiveness of sanctions.

Interesting to say Russia requiring payments for their resources in rubles is 'an extraordinary measure to artificially inflate the value of their currency, ' as opposed to what the US has been doing with the global reserves and petrodollar, which is...what?

Exactly! This sanction on Russia completely backfired and it’s actually going to trigger the downfall of the U.S currency due to this.
