they will always be British brands...doesn't matter who purchases them...the day India can come up with an iconic brand like Jaguar then maybe you can even suggest something so ridiculous as that.

For all the people saying that none of these cars are British: where were all these companies founded? And where are all of their models still made? Britain, thus they are British.

1. Rolls Royce is owned by BMW(German)
2. Land Rover is owned by Tata(Indian)
3. Aston Martin is owned by Lawrence Stroll(Canadian)
4. Bentley is owned by Volkswagen AG(German)
5. MG is owned by Chinese
6. Jaguar is owned by Tata(Indian)
7. Mclaren is owned by Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund(Bahrain)
8. MINI is owned by BMW(German)

Some will say that ownership of the company shares doesn't mean anything since the headquarters and manufacturing are still in UK. Yeah, right. Only that the UK doesn't have any say in these company anymore. They're still benefiting the UK economy in some sense, but they aren't of the UK anymore. Sad reality, but true. How we treat the legacy of our industrial revolution and invention that changed the face of the world are depressing.

That’s a depressingly short and foreign owned list. It sounds like someone gloating over the demise of the British car industry. There are still some British owned brands which are admittedly small but no less good for that.
