I hit a 3 wood one time when the head flew off. The shot was perfect, but it was my favorite club.

Head flew off my driver recently - floated across a lake. Much hilarity as the Marshall asked "What brand is it?" before rescuing it!! As if there were twenty bobbing heads out there waiting to be rescued.

I have actually experienced the club head breaking off. Hit the ball and the next thing I know just like Rory, I'm looking at a club with no head left to it. Just the shaft in my hands...

"never in your life".... i lost a head off my club at the driving range and ive not even been golfing a year yet.... it was a used club i bought off ebay... the shaft just broke at the epoxy joint... i just took the head down to the local fitter and had a new shaft put on it. he said it happens all the time...
