For me this song represents conditional love (when the closest people in your life/parents only give you a bit of love and attention if you do something for them or achieve something great).
If you don't achieve something - they discard or treat you like you are invisable. So you keep running and over-achieving your whole life - to finally get their love. The sad part is. It will in most cases never be enough and you burn out while doing this.

Seriously this song hurts cuz it’s so relatable it cuts into me, my parents literally made me become what one would considered a good shy kid. In fact I struggle to this day to even ask for help on basic things just because I was always shamed whenever I asked for help.i remember I laughed at my pain that I felt when my parents told me they didn’t know how angry I was as a kid and been told multiple times to swallow down whatever I felt just to keep the peace.
