theres a 6 digit number you have to find using the smiley faces, each face corresponds to one segment, each pulse is one number. once you find that number, you have to convert it to roman numerals (using any converter online) input it into the black boxes, the order is C L X V I D M and on the bottom is the same, but x1000 (the converter will have a line on top of the numbers that go on the bottom row)
