DigiHUD vs Tomtom... Testing GPS Speedometers for Motorcycle Applications

Neither of these units are Motorcycle-specific. Motorcycle GPS units seem to be quite expensive.
The objective here, is to see if a free app "DigiHUD" on a $60 Android phone can provide a reliable digital readout of speed.
Tests so far are optimistic... battery drainage is reasonable (should function for 6 hrs or more) and the app stays open reliably (phone does not go do sleep while in operation). Simple, easy to read display.

Now the accuracy test. So I decided to jump in a cage, and film both units, side by side.

At the bottom of the Tomtom screen, next to the speed-limit (red circle) is the speedometer.

Admittedly, this was hilly terrain, with lots of tree cover, so maybe not ideal testing circumstances. However, judge for yourself. I'm certainly going to enjoy using the free app, DigiHUD!! I've made a mounting system, to mount this display on the motorbike... it's nice looking at big digital numbers, even if the bike is slightly old-school!

It's not waterproof, or even foolproof. But its cheap. Which leaves more money for oil changes, new tyres, and beer.

Might show the mounting system, in a future vid🤓

Nice video, thanks for sharing your findings. It's always great to see how it performs in different environments.
