Will Non-Muslims Automatically Go To Hell? | Dr. Shabir Ally

Dr. Shabir Ally responds to a viewer who is struggling with the idea of a Merciful and Just God condemning people to eternal Hell, particularly those who are non-Muslim. The viewer feels that Islam is the truth but is hesitant to fully accept it due to this troubling concept. Dr. Shabir acknowledges that this concern is common and has been traditionally addressed in Islamic sermons and writings with the notion that non-Muslims are automatically destined for Hell. However, he challenges this view by pointing out that the Quran repeatedly emphasizes God's mercy and provides a more inclusive outlook on salvation. Dr. Shabir explains that people are often shaped by their environments—whether they are born into Muslim, Christian, Hindu, or atheist families—and it wouldn't align with God's mercy to condemn individuals solely based on their circumstances of birth. He highlights Quranic verses, such as Surah 2:62, which suggest that those who believe in God and do good deeds, regardless of their religious identity, may not face eternal punishment. He also addresses the second part of the viewer's question regarding the permanence of Hell. Citing Islamic scholar Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, Dr. Shabir discusses the idea that Hell may not be eternal for everyone, with some Quranic verses implying that Hell's duration could be temporary.

I am a Hindu. I really respect this wise man and amazed by how clearly and intellectually he explains different subjects. The world will be more and more peaceful and if such humble leaders guide their own religion.

The issue is sadly we live in a post-Islamic fundamentalist salafia/wahabi dominant Islamic world. New Muslims now days follow very backwards and violent interpretations of the Quran and sunnah, we no longer follow the original teachings and interpretations. A lot of Muslims have become what the west portrays them as and it’s sad. As a Muslim myself I will always refute Islamic fundamentalist ideals because they don’t know true Islam, they’re just as lost.

I am a Christian, past present and future. Many Christians believe that you must be of the Christian faith to be "saved". However, I differ from them in that regard. I often watch your videos and find much in common with your teaching. In a way it resembles what I try to tell "my people" so to speak. In the 10th chapter of Luke in the Bible Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan. But what prompted Him telling that story was, a lawyer stood up, well here it is word for word starting at verse 25 and then I will continue:

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Notice verse 28. He gives no condition having to do with any rituals or special beliefs that Christians often quote thinking they alone will see heaven. He, meaning Jesus, simply says "this do and thou shalt live". And if we think on it further, the scripture that so many try to make it where no one but Christians will be saved says "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved". But what is believing on Jesus? For me it's believing in his teachings and his philosophy and that is to do good, love God, and love your fellow man as in the scripture above. All that to say this. I think a lot of people in both faiths will be surprised to see those of both faiths that have tried to live good lives and had a reverence for God, and loved their fellow man, in heaven. I am and always will be a Christian, but I believe I will meet you in heaven one day, whatever heaven is. And since the God of Abraham is also the God Of Ishmael and Isaac, to my knowledge Abraham only worshiped one God. I do not know much of how or what you perceive God to be, but since it is the same entity that we as Christians worship, Then are we not worshiping the same God tho we may use a different name to reference "Him"? All that to say this, we need to come together more in the different faiths and stop thinking it's us or them. It is we. We are all brothers and sisters and we best learn to get along and stop being so judgmental of each other. Again, I enjoy listening to you because I find that we agree on much more than we disagree on. Tho we come at it from a different path because of how we were raised, we seem to arrive quite often at the same destination.

The wisdom behind Allah's mercy - Allah(swt) wants every human to be successful and live a peaceful life. But we humans do not follow his instructions, live miserable lives and then complaint.

Allah never says that only Muslims go into Paradise. Jews say only Jews enter in Paradise, Christians say only Christians enter in Paradise, and Allah answers to them it is false and tells to all mankind that who ever believe in Allah and do good deeds enters in Paradise. It is in s2v111-112.

This question keeps coming up on the internet. The salafis generally condemn anyone who is not a Muslim to hell, while the sufis have their own arrogance in making takfir against other sects. But there are several verses in the Qur’aan which offer salvation to ahle kitab, Zoroastrian’s, sabians. Muslim men can marry women from ahle kitab. Find it very difficult to believe the Qur’aan would allow marriage to person condemned to hell fire.

I’m with you Dr. Shabir. In a hadith Qudsi, God says that He has forbidden Himself to do injustice.

Therefore, on the Day of Judgment, God will be very fair where He will consider all the conditions of a person, and not only because of being a Muslim or non-Muslim. God will give justice where we will not be able to deny it. His justice will be perfect. And not like what we can imagine now.

And so I believe that hell is not forever. God's mercy will exceed His justice. And one day hell will be extinguished. I once read this in a hadith Bukhori. And all humans will gather with God in heaven.

Since 2008 Israel in their efforts to occupy, killed 158, 286 Palestenians, nearly all civilians, women, children, elderly,
since 2008 Palestenians in their efforts to defend against the occupation, killed 5, 887 Israelis, mostly soldiers.

search '' The Human Cost Of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict''

These values do not include the dead of 70+ years of occupation, does not include the millions of evicted people, does not include the millions of people afflicted by the conflict due to malnutrition, lack of medical servives, education loss, income loss, broken families etc etc etc.
The occupiers celebrate what they are doing, because USA, Britain, Germany, France (governments) and the like are helping and encouraging them.
Humanity is taken hostage by bad politics.
