If we speak about metalcore, Integrity, Earth Crisis, All Out War, In Cold Blood, Ringworm just to name a few are definitely much more lethal than a water gun. 90-s metalcore for the most part actually has a huge pair of balls and quite often bigger than a lot of pure metal genres do. Unfortunately, when a term "metalcore" is mentioned, almost everyone thinks of melodic metalcore starting from 2000s which is an absolutely different thing. Classic 90s metalcore is hardcore + metal, while 2000s melodic metalcore for the most part is melodic death metal with breakdowns and a combination of extreme vocals and saccharine cleans.
