Price: USD 25

While 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey is the update to the flagship NHL release, it does mix in a few new options to go with the standard choices.

Just as in 2018-19 UD Series 1 Hockey, collectors can look forward to six Young Guns rookie cards per Hobby box.

2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Base / Young Guns
Because the flagship brand is a collecting institution, the main set in 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey is a bit more important to many NHL fans.

Once again, the 200-card base set is joined by 50 new names in the popular Young Guns subset, including Andrei Svechnikov and Casey Mittelstadt. These rookie cards combine to average 1:4 packs.

As for parallels, there are the normal Exclusives (#/100) and High Gloss (#/10) editions, plus the Hobby-only Clear Cut for base (1:90 packs) and Young Guns (1:360 packs) subjects.

Another intriguing aspect of the release, UD Canvas skates on with a new selection that includes some rare cards with a distinct finish. While the base Canvas cards average 1:8 packs, the Canvas Young Guns (1:48 packs), Team Canada Program of Excellence (1:192 packs) and Retired Stars (1:192 packs) cards are all tougher to uncover.

2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Inserts
The 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey checklist also incorporates a variety of inserts. The UD Portraits lineup is all rookies this time, with each player in the 50-card set averaging 1:6 packs. These have Gold (#/99) and Platinum Blue (#/25) parallels, as well.

Utilizing die-cut acetate stock, Rookie Breakouts (#/100) cards are exclusive to Hobby boxes.

Back in action, the bright UD Fluorescence has an updated design and comes in Gold (#/150), Blue (#/50), Green (#/15), and Magenta (#/5) versions.

And the rarest inserts are supplied by Day with the Cup (1:1,000 packs) and Tricksters (1:463 packs).

Those shopping at retail can find Rookie Commence and oversized NHL Star cards (3 1/2" x 5") exclusively in tins. These each average one per tin.

Unannounced surprises include a new batch of the Triple Exposure Variations for base subjects, a continuation of the comic-book style Fanimation, and Acetate Retro Young Guns featuring top players.

2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Autographs / Relics
Still known more for the set collecting side of things, 2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey does contain a few hits to chase. Among the choices is the all-new Rookie Photoshoot Flashback Materials (1:288 packs), which displays images from the player's rookie year. The Patch parallel caps the print run at 15 copies.

2018-19 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Cards 7
The exclusive Rookie Materials cards come in base (1:58 packs) and Patch (#/25), while collectors can find a new crop of stars in the 1,000 Point Club Jerseys (1:864 packs) and 1,000 Point Club Autos (#/10) sets.

Phil Esposito is the UD Canvas Autograph (#/16) subject this time.

2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Update
Because it is an early-season release, many key players don't make into 2018-19 OPC, but the 2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Update insert takes care of that with base (1:24 packs) and Rookies (1:6 packs) in several parallels.

Up here in Canada those tins are $50. I’m not too sure I’d buy one of those. I’ll have to watch more YouTubers open these before I pull the trigger. But great video my friend. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate the fact that you don't make us watch you open the packs and it was a good break, but please get your facts straight when you mention the players. Adam Larsson is a top 2/3 defenseman on Edmonton not just a top 6 guy. That's a BIG difference because he'd be in the top 4 on most teams in the NHL. And your commentary on Laine was completely off the mark. You're saying he's now a better all around player? Then why are his possession stats and his plus minus in the toilet this season? If anything he's much weaker defensively and the only difference in his game is that his shooting percentage is lower. If you want to keep viewers you're going to need to be more accurate in your player analysis.
