My problem started after changing batteries after a low battery warning. This video is great for getting the car started, but I found a solution that actually makes some small amount of sense. I believe that the root of the problem is that, though the instructions call for an CR2025 battery, many folks use the more common CR2032 because it fits and works most of the time. The problem is that the CR2032 is thicker than the CR2025. When using the CR2032, overtime, it pushes the negative contacts (the 4 spring contacts on the board) down far enough to make contact with the printed circuit board (PCB) metal pins beneath the contacts, causing an unexpected and unplanned for electrical situation in the circuit. By placing a piece of paper beneath the contacts to protect the PCB, this situation is avoided. I used small rectangular sections of the sticky part of a yellow sticky notepad and tweezers to do this, because the sticky side holds the paper in place. An alternative would be small pieces of actual tape and might work better because it is less likely to move from position. Like this comment if this worked for you. Good luck!

I found that this works even if the fob has no battery installed. There's a circular inductor on the fob's circuit board at the logo end of the fob, and I'm guessing there's a matching inductor inside the dash, either around or just past the Start button, and this wirelessly/inductively sends just enough power into the inductor inside the fob to allow the fob to be seen by the car. So as long as you still have the physical key to get into the car, you don't have to worry if the fob's battery dies altogether.

I figured out I was placing the battery in the wrong way thanks to this video. 😂
I had to break into my car twice because I left the key in the car because it wasn't detecting the key. As a result as well, I left the doors open one night and got robbed of a jacket and a bottle of liquor. But that was only worth $15.
What was really bad was not being able to pick up a client so I lost $40 and time. So that's $55. Plus paying someone for help $5 to help open the door. So I lost $60. Lol. But I'm very thankful people make informal videos like this to help. Thank you so much.

I was having this same problem and what I found to work was to pull the key out of the fob and insert the key into your driver side door and lock the car twice and unlock the car twice. I was able to use the key fine for a month before having to repeat the process.

I am a Gram whose car (Nissan 2012) is in perfect shape. I love my baby girl. Today, though, - I went to a meeting. Went to hit top button to lock doors and secure car. Doors would not lock ! I struggled along for a few minutes, - and went in to meeting, - hoping my car alarm would protect my girl. Sure enough, - On my return, - the doors were still un-locked, - but my baby started screaming, - (alarm went off) In a panic I went online, - and found this and other videos on how to change battery in fob. Not sure if this will work for everyone but I found this while doing a remote start. Behind the instrument cluster is the ecu I believe. I had an issue for awhile and could not for the life of me figure it out. Not kidding, take out the instrument cluster (it's not hard) and push on the connectors on the box behind it. Took me over an hour of trying to figure out out. Pushed on the connector (specifically the 40 pin black connector at the top center) and it immediately recognized the key.

Have been dealing with this issue for about a year now didnt want to spend the money at the dealership. What i noticed was the contact points on the battery side were compressed. All i did was pull them out with some needle nose plyers so that when the controller is shut the pins touch the contact point on the circuit board. Hope this helps
